Description
Guided by the Managing Director, Communications, the Director of Marketing will develop and lead the execution of a marketing strategy to increase brand awareness in support of efforts to build assets and to position The Community Foundation to achieve its programmatic and development goals. The Director will develop marketing campaigns and craft compelling messaging and materials to help The Community Foundation mobilize philanthropy around its key priorities. The Director will also work across various departments to coordinate and manage promotion for donor programming and community engagement events.
In addition to the duties described in this position description, every role at The Community Foundation is expected to contribute to the organization's overall success and its goals. This may mean that team members will be asked to take on other tasks that may not be listed here. Examples may include working on a project or specific task outside your standard area of responsibility, participating in an organization-wide task force or special initiative, or being asked to support a colleague when needed. Any additional tasks will be determined by the manager of this role, in coordination with the leadership team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Design and direct a comprehensive marketing plan that leverages The Community Foundation's various channels to raise visibility and awareness and increase engagement of key audiences: donors, fundholders, professional advisors, prospects, nonprofit partners, media, and the broader community.
• Implement strategies to market our donor services and enhance our relationships in the professional advisor community, grow our nonprofit endowment product, and expand our enhanced philanthropic advisory services line of business.
• Lead a proactive social media strategy that leverages campaigns to enhance The Community Foundation's digital presence and audience engagement.
• Work with Managing Director to develop and support an annual calendar of donor and community engagement events, leading marketing and promotion for all corporate events. Work across departments to coordinate the invitations and guest lists, event collateral, talking points, event follow up, and more.
• Work with external vendors to manage design and production of print and digital marketing collateral in alignment with brand identity.
• Collaborate with the development team to support stewardship plans by preparing social media posts, press releases, public listings on website, reports, or other deliverables.
• Contribute to the development of an organization-wide editorial calendar to coordinate across multiple programs, products, initiatives, and audiences and to promote cross-channel strategies and touchpoints.
• Develop compelling content and basic graphics for the website, social media posts, events, the monthly newsletter, appeals, etc.
• Provide counsel and assistance to other departments at The Community Foundation to ensure consistency of messaging, brand, and voice/tone.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field.
• A minimum of 7-10 years' experience in a fundraising, marketing, or communications role.
• Experience in a nonprofit or community foundation preferred.
• A strong results-driven orientation, decision-making and prioritization capabilities, and project management skills with continuous attention to detail.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, working well with a wide range of colleagues across geographies.
• Expertise with digital and social media engagement and communications platforms and tools.
• Experience with email marketing and basic sense of graphic and web design.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, while also implementing tactically.
• Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to quickly grasp and translate complicated subject matter.
• A commitment to philanthropy and experience working with organizations or programs similar to the mission and values of The Community Foundation.
• Ability to work both independently as well as collaborate and coordinate with others.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a rapid, changing environment.
• High ethical standards.
• Fundraising and/or sponsorship experience preferred.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $103,600.00 to $121,800.00, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
