OpenObserve is a rapidly growing open-source observability platform challenging traditional vendors like Splunk, Datadog, and Elasticsearch. With over 14,000 GitHub stars, 2,900+ self-hosted deployments globally, and 8,400+ cloud users, we're revolutionizing how companies handle logs, metrics, traces, and overall observability. Our success includes replacing legacy solutions at Fortune 10 companies, demonstrating our enterprise-grade capabilities. Join us in revolutionizing the observability space and helping companies gain better insights into their systems and applications.

The Role

We are a company of 22 technical employees, and we are looking to hire our first marketer with a specialty in growth and acquisition. As our first growth marketer, you will drive our funnel for commercial expansion and revenue growth for a wide range of deal tiers, from open source freemium to the Fortune 10. This is the perfect role if you love building enterprise level and developer focused marketing processes from the ground up for a startup that has already discovered product-market fit.

Key Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Sales Strategy:
  • You will own the creation of our company-wide revenue targets and growth strategy, utilizing data to determine how and where we should prospect.
  • You will personally drive enterprise sales opportunities from the outset, learning the best way to build and convert our warm leads and then build the playbook to iterate continuously
  • You will develop and optimize our pricing and packaging across all tiers - from self-service to the Fortune 10
  • You will create conversion strategies for both self-hosted and cloud models
  • You will build scalable processes for identifying high-value targets
Product Marketing & Positioning:
  • You will define and build clear value propositions for our district user segments
  • You will research and create white papers and documentation outlining the compelling differentiation between our open-source and commercial offerings
  • You will develop and continuously iterate on our sales enablement materials and case studies
  • You will work directly with our developer advocates to align our content strategy and outreach with our commercial goals
Reporting:
  • You will be in charge of building our analytics dashboards for tracking conversion metrics
  • You will create our forecasting and pipeline management processes
  • You will implement CRM tools and systems for sales efficiency
Cross-functional Leadership:
  • You will partner with our engineering team on developing our feature priorities based on user feedback
  • You will collaborate with our developer advocates on community initiatives to meet our commercial aims
  • You will work directly with the CEO on strategic business decisions based on sales and strategy wins and learnings
  • You will guide our QA team on commercial feature testing
Requirements
Required Experience:
  • You have 5+ years of experience in a growth or product marketing role for an enterprise SaaS company that sells directly to developers
  • You have a strong track record of developing sales strategies and creating collateral from scratch to close deals over $250,000 ARR
  • You have strong experience writing white papers and conducting competitive analysis for an enterprise company
  • You have seen a marketing team in the early days and have strong, proven ideas as to how to build and convert on our marketing funnel
  • You are a strong startup person - you have a strong bias toward action and you love getting things done.
  • You have world class communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • You have a strong data-driven approach to decision-making
  • You are self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
