Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Content Creator positions for University Relations and Marketing (URM) at Oregon State University (OSU). URM is looking to fill several content creator positions who will help create photo and/or video content for various OSU social media accounts (@oregonstate).

The content creator position will support OSU and URM by producing digital content that represents an authentic look into the student experience at Oregon State. Students in this position will be tasked with creating different kinds of content based on their experience and interests, including weekly vlog episodes, TikToks, selfies, photography, IG reels/stories, and other media to showcase a day in the life of Beaver Nation.

Students will operate somewhat independently while receiving initial direction and regular points of contact with URM staff to share ideas, brainstorm, and provide review of the material. Any work created by students in this position is available for use on OSU social networks, websites, blogs, and other marketing channels.


Position Duties

  1. Collaborate weekly to pitch content ideas informed by social media trends and university events.
  2. Produce content based on individual experience, interests, and availability.
  3. Execute creative concepts with some initial direction and collaboration with the URM team.
  4. Create videos and be on camera as the subject and/or interviewer.
  5. Maintain academic enrollment in a high school, community college, or university.
  6. Meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Comfortable and confident being on camera.
  • Willing to share personal student experiences.
  • Experience using social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
  • Commitment to creating authentic and inclusive content that enhances public opinion of OSU.
  • Own a smartphone capable of taking short videos.
  • Meet applicable minimal enrollment standards based on educational level.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Experience creating TikToks, Reels, or other short-form vertical video content is a plus, as is experience with photography and photo/video editing.
