Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (GSLC) is seeking applicants for a full-time position with benefits, as the Director of Music and Worship to work closely with pastors, music and worship staff, and worship teams in the implementation of all facets of Music and Worship Ministry for GSLC. Collaborate with all ministry areas to engage music into all aspects of GSLC programming. Reports directly to the Senior Pastor of GSLC.

Music and Worship Ministry:

Envision and develop worship plans for all services according to the Christian liturgical calendar and themes which enable the community of faith gathered in worship to experience God's presence and grace in their lives. Lead the technical and musical aspects of weekly and special worship events including weddings and funerals. Recruit, train, and continually coach music teams, technology team, choirs, and worship assistants as needed and in collaboration with pastors and congregation staff. Maintain worship ministry inventory and order supplies.

Technology:

Coordinate the use of technology in all facets of worship. Produce weekly online services. Attend to regular maintenance and repair of musical instruments and audio/video systems. Work with pastors and congregation staff to develop new ways of utilizing technology in Music and Worship Ministries (i.e., online, video, worship blogs).

Administration:

Coordinate all areas of organization in Music and Worship Ministries. Manage the music library and resources. Responsible for creation and production of weekly worship outlines and be knowledgeable about all processes of bulletin preparation and collaborate with administrative staff when needed. Collaborate with pastors and staff to communicate seasonal and weekly worship events. Attend weekly staff meetings.

Personal and Spiritual Growth:

A growing relationship with God and God's people. Engage in the ministry of self-care through personal and spiritual growth. Nurture spiritual growth through prayer, worship opportunities, reading, attending educational conferences, and other avenues in conversation with the Senior Pastor chosen to foster this growth.

Experience and Education

Required Qualifications:

1. At least three (3) years of worship planning and leading experience.
2. Proficient in vocal and instrumental music to include performance, leadership, and accompaniment such as piano, keyboard, guitar, organ.
3. Knowledge of audio and video systems which is common in live performance settings to include sound, lighting, a/v presentation, etc.
4. An understanding of worship structure and forms, from liturgical to post-modern.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in music or a related field.
2. Experience with multiple computer platforms such as music notation software; audio recording software; video editing software; desktop publishing software; and worship projection software.
3. Recruitment of musicians.
4. Experience within large worshiping communities (500+ in weekly worship attendance).

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises organists and audio video technology staff including supervisory of other worship staff and/or volunteers. Coordinates, recruits, and supports ministry and music volunteers.
