About Solarpunk Studio

Solarpunk Studio is a creative communications consultancy specializing in visual storytelling, branding, and digital strategy for environmentally-oriented science and tech fields. We work with leaders in renewable energy, conservation, climate tech, and forward-thinking agriculture to craft compelling narratives and strategic media that drive impact.

Location: We are based in beautiful Redding, CA, with occasional travel for client meetings and video shoots. Preference will be given to candidates local to NorCal, but we are open to a fully remote role for the right candidate.

Commitment: We are a young, scrappy, growing business. For now, this is a part-time role for a contract duration of six months (flexible hours, approx. 10-20 hours/week). In the right circumstances, this could become a full-time role that grows with you.

Role Overview

We are looking for a versatile Executive & Creative Assistant to support Solarpunk Studio’s founder with a mix of administrative, design, and creative tasks. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, creative environment, is highly organized, and has strong problem-solving skills. You will play a key role in keeping projects moving smoothly, handling day-to-day operations, and assisting with client-facing and internal creative work.

Responsibilities

Executive & Operations Support (20%)

  • Assist with scheduling, email management, and administrative coordination.
  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and client communications.
  • Conduct research and compile information on industry trends and client needs.
  • Organize files, documents, and digital assets in an efficient system.

Design & Creative Tasks (40%)

  • Assist with light graphic design (e.g., social media assets, presentations, simple website edits).
  • Support in drafting and formatting documents, proposals, and reports.
  • Help manage creative projects, including video and web production timelines and logistics.
  • Source stock imagery, fonts, and design elements as needed.

Other Project Management and Marketing Duties as Assigned (40%)

  • Social media planning, drafting content, and engagement for us and for clients.
  • Provide light copyediting and proofreading support.
  • Support client onboarding and communications.
  • Help with project coordination across teams and freelancers.

Qualifications

  • Experience and interest in social media, design, digital marketing, and/or video production.
  • Experience in and passion for project management.
  • An eye for design and acute attention to visual detail.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (other marketing and efficiency tools like Hubspot, Later, and automation tools a plus).
  • Proficiency in Canva (Adobe Creative Suite a plus).

You are…

  • A GREAT COMMUNICATOR. You’re proactive, thorough, and clear in your communication, whether through in-person conversation, email, or chat.
  • A CURIOUS, QUICK LEARNER. You’re a hands-on person, eager to quickly learn and apply new software and strategies. You’re constantly striving to improve your craft(s), staying up to date with industry trends, etc.
  • A PROCESS-DRIVEN PROBLEM SOLVER. You love finding creative, diplomatic ways to tackle obstacles, and you always meet deadlines because you’re constantly creating and improving processes for yourself and others to make work flow more smoothly.
  • SELF-MOTIVATED. You stay focused no matter the work environment, and when necessary you’re comfortable prioritizing tasks and working in a self-directed manner.

Bonus if you have…

  • NERD CHOPS. Experience working around scientists or in scientific/technical fields.
  • A STARTUP MINDSET. Interest in startups/entrepreneurship and serving as a key part of an early-stage business.
  • PASSION FOR THE PLANET. A penchant for sustainability, environmental science, or climate storytelling.
  • A DEGREE IN MARKETING, MEDIA, SCIENCE, BUSINESS, ETC. A relevant college degree is very helpful, but not absolutely necessary for this role.

What We Offer

  • INTERESTING PROJECTS WITH GREAT CLIENTS. The opportunity to work on meaningful projects in environmental storytelling.
  • FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE. You are largely free to choose your own hours for this position with some constraints.
  • NEVER A DULL MOMENT. Lots of variety in tasks and projects.
  • A DEDICATED WORKSPACE. The opportunity to work from our Redding, CA office (pending lease).
  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR CAREER GROWTH. You support our growth, we support yours. We want to invest in the right candidate learning next-level skills and staying with us long-term.

To Apply: Please submit your resume, a brief cover letter written by YOU (yes, we can tell), and (if applicable) a portfolio of video/design work to workwith@solarpunkstudio.com with "Executive & Creative Assistant" in the subject line.
