Job Description

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Chief Counsel and Litigation Services Section, is currently seeking an experienced Research Librarian with a passion for public service to join its Research and Library Services team. The chosen candidate will have strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills, a willingness and capacity to deal with multiple variables in unfamiliar contexts in a timely manner, and a willingness to work independently. The headquarters location is 30 E. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties, which include but are not limited to:

  1. Standard Librarian duties, including resource evaluation, original cataloging, and providing online and in-person resource instruction for Attorney General staff.
  2. Conduct effective reference interviews to determine information needs; research in a wide variety of fields (e.g., legal, medical, scientific, historic); examine backgrounds, assets, and publications of parties, witnesses, experts & vendors.
  3. Participate in professional organizations, resource sharing, and take advantage of continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree
