The Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Chief Counsel and Litigation Services Section, is currently seeking an experienced Research Librarian with a passion for public service to join its Research and Library Services team. The chosen candidate will have strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills, willingness and capacity to deal with multiple variables in unfamiliar contexts in a timely manner, and a willingness to work independently. The headquarters location is 30 E. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio.
Responsibilities:
- Standard Librarian duties, including resource evaluation, original cataloging, and providing online and in-person resource instruction for Attorney General staff.
- Conduct effective reference interviews to determine information needs; research in a wide variety of fields (e.g., legal, medical, scientific, historic); examine backgrounds, assets, and publications of parties, witnesses, experts & vendors.
- Participate in professional organizations, resource sharing, and take advantage of continuing education opportunities.
Minimum Requirements:
Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree.
