Position Summary
The University of Central Arkansas Archives seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and flexible individual to support a team that promotes accessibility of archival collections for students, community members, and researchers. Under the direction of the Head of Special Collections, this role involves processing archival collections, creating archival metadata, and assisting with archival reference. The position serves as the Saturday reference archivist, performing public service duties, answering inquiries, and overseeing collection security during reference appointments. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, subject to change during holidays and academic breaks.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Arranges archival collections for accessibility using professional best practices.
- Describes and preserves various archival formats including paper, film, and digital media.
- Provides reference assistance through archival reading room desk shifts, including Saturdays.
- Completes large archival processing projects in a timely manner.
- Assists other library departments as needed.
- May supervise student workers as required.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, with prior library or archival experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Knowledge of the history of Arkansas.
- Bachelor’s degree in history or a related field.
Physical Demands
This position involves primarily indoor work with medium exertion (exerting 20-50 pounds).
