POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Video Production Manager or designee, the Video Production Specialist supports the Office of Communications and the overall mission of the Medical School by creating innovative video and other multimedia content that tells the stories and raises the profile and reputation of the world-class biomedical research, educational enterprise and people at UMass Chan Medical School.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Produce, shoot and edit video pieces for internal and external distribution channels, including for institutional events, websites, social media, broadcast or other digital platforms. The Video Production Specialist will be expected to complete all aspects of some video projects (logistics, shooting, editing) independently while, in other cases, working collaboratively with the Video Production Manager and other colleagues in the Office of Communications.
• Demonstrated experience operating DSLR style cameras, audio and lighting and editing professional quality video projects
• Upload videos and digital media to the UMass Chan institutional accounts and platforms, including YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
• Take photographs for a variety of Office of Communications needs, including for news coverage, social media, video production, websites and marketing
• Apply strong organizational skills to assist Video Production Manager in managing the workflow of a variety of video production projects, including the ability to share projects, protect assets, and archive large media files on the video library.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a professional strategic communications team, presenting solutions to video production challenges as they arrive before, during and after shoots, while also taking direction and feedback well. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Stay informed on emerging technology, trends and techniques in video production to advise communications team and continually improve skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned, some off-hours and weekend duties

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, film or video production or a related field
• 1-3 years of professional experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition and Photoshop
• Proficiency in live-streaming video to various platforms
• Strong attention to detail; an eye for consistency and adherence to the UMass Chan branding standards
• Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to establish and maintain respectful professional relationships with students, faculty, administration and colleagues.
• Ability to meet long and short-term deadlines, and to work simultaneously on multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a small team.
