Duties

  • Serving as a Visual Information Specialist with responsibility for designing visual imagery for complex, crucial and varied programs for the Department of Defense.
  • Analyzing requirements, conducting research, planning and preparing graphic media for comprehensive multimedia presentations.
  • Responsible for the design and production of web graphics, presentations, publications, various signage and display products, and corridor exhibits.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • The position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business.
  • The position may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: The Visual Information Series, 1084, has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR). Education above the high school level must have been completed in a U.S. college, university, or other educational institution accredited by recognized agencies.

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or related fields. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

You may qualify at the GS-11 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to assist in planning and developing visual imagery programs; knowledge of computer graphics.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to plan and develop visual imagery for programs in various fields; apply technical knowledge of computer graphics programs related to the design and production of visual information products.
