As a Content Strategist for Discover Universal, you are responsible for leading video and podcast projects to help promote Universal Studios Hollywood to the world. You will lead and create the creative strategy and concepting on several video and podcast episodes for our branded content series and collaborate with a team of talented creators to help produce on-brand content that educates and entertains our guests. You’ll also work across a highly integrated marketing organization to partner on content communications plans that will ensure the impact of your work. The content strategist will report directly to the Universal Studios Hollywood Manager of Discover Universal.
Responsibilities

Collaborating on planning efforts for evergreen content about the theme park, as well as for major campaigns including Halloween Horror Nights, Holidays at USH, and more.

Working closely with internal partners and stakeholders, including the communications planning team, the social media team, and publicity team, and more as needed to ensure business needs are integrated in the content creation process.

Developing strategy and creative concepts for new shows, creating compelling pitch decks to present to executive leadership for approval and budget.

Thoroughly preparing for video and podcast episode recording, including conducting research, assisting with production planning and logistics, researching guests and prepping interview questions, scheduling upcoming guests, and all other elements of pre-production.

Participating in video/podcast episode production (present for all recordings/shoots) by providing thorough editor’s notes and ensuring talent is complying with USH business strategy.

Completing the daily tasks of seeking internal and external approvals for video and podcast content, ensuring episodes are delivered efficiently and on time.

Providing detailed strategic and creative feedback on video/podcast episodes, including transcripts, show notes, blog posts, and channel assets. Uploads episodes to publishing platforms and aligns on partners with launch.

Assisting Manager, Discover Universal - USH with all elements of video and podcast strategy as assigned.
Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Broadcast, Advertising, Media Production, Digital Media, Public Relations, Social Media or relevant professional experience is preferred

2+ years of experience in content marketing, content production, social media, journalism, broadcast media, public relations, digital marketing, communications, or editorial content

Proficiency in crafting and designing compelling pitch presentations within (PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides or other).

Confidence and charisma as an influential presenter

Strong interpersonal communication skills and collaborative spirit

Basic knowledge of marketing channels and strategy

Comfortable understanding, analyzing, and reporting on performance data

Desired Characteristics:

Expertise in and passion for content – must be an enthusiastic content consumer of podcast and video content, specifically YouTube video content

Deep knowledge of and passion for contemporary popular culture

Genuine palpable passion for our IP and/or theme parks, specifically Universal Studios Hollywood

Comfortable working within a collaborative environment

Solid organizational skills

Familiarity with professional applications and tools (e.g. Workfront, AirTable, Microsoft 365 applications, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify etc.)

Experience working in a large-scale matrixed organization is a plus
