Hours: Full time

Contract: Permanent

Applications from ECTs welcome.

We are looking to expand our range of GCSE option subjects. Are you an experienced Media teacher looking for an exciting opportunity? Could you be the person we need with the skills, knowledge and passion to introduce Media to our students?

Our mission is to ‘inspire learners and change lives’ – and that includes our staff. We want to empower our teams so pupils are ready to be kind, confident and impactful world citizens – ‘participants, not bystanders’. To help us, we are looking to appoint an exceptional, exciting and inspirational teacher to introduce a creative and engaging Media curriculum in line with our desire for ‘excellence for all’. The successful candidate should possess the ability to think outside the box to ensure students are eager to learn, enabling them to raise their aspirations and to achieve the best possible outcomes.

As this would be our first GCSE cohort, the successful candidate would be required to teach another subject alongside Media. Preferably this would be English, a Humanities or Social Sciences subject but candidates with different second specialisms should not be deterred from applying.

The successful candidate will provide a supportive, stimulating learning environment and share our high expectations of achievement for all pupils.

In return, we offer:

  • High quality professional development
  • Supportive and friendly colleagues
  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Staff assistance programme including virtual GP appointments, counselling service, legal services
  • Access to the Teacher Pension Scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme

Applications

Please forward your application to Rose Toth, HR Officer at hr@elatschools.co.uk by 12pm, Thursday 20th March 2025.

Interviews are scheduled to take place shortly after.

Please note that the Trust reserves the right to interview prior to the deadline date.

Empower Learning Academy Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer that is committed to safer recruitment. All applicants must be prepared to undergo screening to confirm their suitability to work with children.

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
