Marketing Specialist Job Description
The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the CEO, COO, and team managers to represent the company’s services and impact to the outside world. The marketing specialist must be passionate about impact businesses and invested in growing our entire community. Here are the areas where we would want to ensure the Marketing Specialist has great experience:
MESSAGING and CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
- Develop and implement written content recommendations in support of external brand, and corporate initiatives such as:
- Impact report
- Online profiles
- Website updates (Squarespace)
- Client contracts
- Email marketing operations
- Newsletters
- Impact Report
- Other items as needed
- Hardcopy marketing collateral (business cards, flyers, etc.)
- Develop and implement internal written content recommendations to team members in support of the internal brand and corporate initiatives
- Manage annual client happiness survey and compile testimonial data from monthly team member feedback for use in marketing campaigns (newsletter, website, social media, etc.)
- Keep communications fresh, creative, and engaging; regularly develop and explore new ideas and strategies
- Monitor trends in core marketing principles and share insights related to HigherRing’s core principles with the Leadership and Administrative team as appropriate
- Assist Leadership with content to support presentations
- Lead blogging initiatives with team members to surface and create website content and social media opportunities for SEO and raise organizational awareness
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Create recommendations for outreach campaigns that support key messages and strategic goals; assist with campaign implementation and track results
- Maintain a social media and content (internal) calendar to help easily determine when content needs to be created and recommended to the Leadership Team
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to craft and approve social media posts
- Quickly and effectively (within 24 hours) respond to DMs and comments where appropriate on social media
- Track social media results to suggest refinements and improvements to ongoing communications tactics and/or to identify opportunities to implement new communications methodologies
- Build relationships through social media in advance of events with exciting HigherRing target clients
- Follow clients and prospective clients and engage with their posts daily on LinkedIn and Instagram on behalf of HigherRing
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
- Own, and when we have additional capacity, manage and mentor LinkedIn business development outreach (top-of-the-funnel brand awareness) on the CEO's LinkedIn. This ensures that we’re creating effective template-driven yet customized messages for specific targeting potential clients for the following verticals:
- CPG (food/pet/beauty/outdoors)
- Edtech
- Healthtech
- App Support
- Apparel
- General impact (B Corp, 1% for the Planet, Climate Neutral, Living Wage) or non-profit organizations
- Work on the CEO’s LinkedIn profile weekly to acknowledge and welcome new connections
- Ensure we’re capturing contacts, connections, and responses as appropriate into our CRM contact or lead function for reminders to follow up if appropriate
- Be on the lookout for conferences for the Leadership team to attend
- Join and be active on behalf of HigherRing on Slack networks: Startup CPG, Naturally Network, Support Driven, etc.
- Weigh in on potential new program offerings (e.g.: Thought Leadership offering)
- Recommend and implement new campaigns to build awareness, such as a ‘Welcoming New B Corps program’
- Entrepreneurial spirit, eyes, and ears open for HigherRing growth opportunities
BRAND POSITIONING
- Maintain Brand Guidelines document
- Create and maintain case studies for different personas working closely with the CEO or other knowledgeable employees
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication
- Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics, and understanding that to improve, we need to measure incremental activity
- Writes effectively and with an appropriate tone for various audiences, including media, consumer, internal, and trade
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to form a strong partnership with the Leadership team
- Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
- Sales and marketing experience, from strategic to tactical (social media, blogging, SEO, email marketing)
- Available for a regular schedule of a daily 4-hour block between 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. Pacific, M-F
- Carry a professional demeanor with good listening skills
- Stamina in problem-solving and the ability to maintain a positive attitude even on a tough day
- Dedicated, proactive, and dependable work ethic
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with team and leadership for optimal solutions
- Strong written and verbal client and team communication skills, as well as grammar
- Experience with project management and documentation tools is necessary
- Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, and Microsoft platforms is helpful
- Tech savvy over a wide range of SaaS-based tools, including creative tools (Canva, Gamma), AI, and CRMs
- Fluency in oral and written English; second language is a plus
- Ability to attend conferences and events to positively represent HigherRing outside of regular working hours
- Quiet, distraction-free workspace in your home that includes a door that closes
- Direct connection from computer to router/modem via Ethernet cable
- Strong and consistent Internet bandwidth: 50 Mbps download speed or faster and 5 Mbps upload from a reliable provider
