Primary Responsibilities HDR Engineering is looking for a Area Bridge Digital Design Lead to support area level Bridges and Structures Digital Design & Delivery/BIM/3D Modeling initiatives and projects and the national Bridges and Structures Business Class (BSBC). This individual will be expected to develop 3D/BIM and 2D deliverables for structures including steel and concrete bridges, long-span girders, arches, cable-supported bridges, and segmental bridges. Tasks may include development of parametric models to generate complex geometry, collaboration with Engineers to develop structural analysis model geometry, and use of appropriate digital design & delivery software/processes to develop client deliverables. Responsibilities may also include production of 3D Bridge Visualizations for client decision making, Public Involvement, and proposals. This individual must be proficient in Autodesk (Revit & Infraworks) or Open Bridge Modeler (OBM) and will train and assist area Bridge modelers in integrating this tool into bridge design and leading the areas Digital Design & Delivery/BIM/3D Modeling initiatives specific to BSBC projects. Collaborative work with area-level multidisciplinary transportation teams including construction engineering and inspection, the Bridges and Structures Business Class, and the Digital Delivery & Data Acquisition Cross Sector is imperative. In the role of Bridge Area Digital Design Lead, we'll count on you to: Provide guidance to the area on managing the entire Digital life cycle for BSBC projects, including risk assessment, planning, scope, fee development, and execution, including support to construction phase implementation, working in coordination with regional TBG Digital Delivery staff. Serve as a point of contact for area level BSBC Digital Design & Delivery needs and strategy, with the Digital Delivery & Data Acquisition Cross Sector and the BSBC Business Class Digital Delivery Lead through monthly recurring meetings. Help lead initiatives to integrate Autodesk (Revit & Infraworks) or Open Bridge Modeler (OBM) in bridge design workflows, and provide support to area TBG staff in providing consistent training and standardized workflows, and best practices in BSBC Digital Design production efforts, with a focus on nurturing local talent and capabilities and enabling regional workshare efforts Establish protocols and monitor HDR relationships with clients' technical BIM/CAD/Digital Delivery teams, working collaboratively to define and fulfill project BIM requirements Manage setup and ongoing updates of client specific Digital Design & Delivery standards and workspaces Review and provide guidance to the financial aspects of BSBC Digital Design & Delivery, including budgeting and scope, while ensuring alignment with project teams Assisting in marketing HDR's Digital Design & Delivery services, working with area TBG Business Development leads Provide guidance in project setup of Digital Design & Delivery projects and perform periodic reviews of the work of BSBC model managers and related disciplines on BSBC projects, ensuring quality and compliance, acting as the model manager for specific projects, and developing bridge plans and models for project deliverables on specific projects. These may be 3D/BIM, 2D drawings cut from 3D models, or traditional 2D drawings Facilitating 3D model quality control reviews for projects with Model as Legal Deliverables Work in a team environment as well as independently

It is expected that about 70% of this role will be for area bridge projects, and 30% may be for BSBC projects outside the area. #LI-JF1 Keywords: Bridge Area Digital Design Lead, 3D modeling, Autodesk, Revit, Infraworks) or Open Bridge Modeler (OBM) Preferred Qualifications: Associate or technical school degree, or combination of education and relevant experience A minimum of 10 years' experience preparing bridge contract drawings utilizing AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or Microstation Advanced 3D modeling and Digital Design & Delivery/BIM capabilities with Autodesk Suite (Revit & Infraworks) and/or Microstation Suite Good understanding of various Digital Design & Delivery and modeling software for BSBC projects Demonstrable understanding of design criteria and methodologies essential for Digital Design & Delivery in highway projects, especially as it pertains to LA Metro, SANDAG, LAWA, Caltrans requirements Exceptional training, support, and oversight capabilities, particularly in staff development. Experience in client-facing roles, coordinating technical BIM/CAD project and program needs Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with client managers, project managers, discipline leads, technical directors, business group directors, and operations staff An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture Bentley Premier Scholar - OpenBridge Modeler or Autodesk equivalent Programming proficiency including Python, C#, and VBA coding. Proficient in ArcGIS Proficiency in developing 3D models for design development, construction documents, and development of still and moving visualizations. Expertise with associated visualization software such as Enscape, Blender, Photoshop, etc. Expertise with Grasshopper and Rhino Parametric Design Tools for bridge projects Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools Experience with 3D Coordination tools Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts

Required Qualifications Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experience Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications Familiar with content creation and management concepts Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and leadership traits are essential Must have strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project work Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an excellent work ethic What We Believe HDR is our company.
