In this position you will provide technical writing support for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM). Successful candidates will serve as part of the IETM development team for maintenance documentation. This position is located in Austin, TX. Research, create, edit, and maintain technical documentation
Write remove & replace, fault isolation, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures
Manage multiple content files and effectively resolve issues
Perform peer reviews and provide constructive feedback
Follow defined style guide standards, as well as DoD standards
Collaborate with other technical writers, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure accurate technical content
Utilize a web-based project management and issue tracking tool
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of documentation tools, standards, and processes
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance
High School Diploma
Two (2) - Four (4) years of technical writing experience; or, an advanced degree in English, technical communication, technical writing, or other related field and 2 years of experience writing user-facing technical documentation and/or instruction
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Use of a digital asset library
Knowledge of schematic drawings
Develop in an Agile environment
Knowledge of Project Management System
Use of an XML-based authoring tools such as Oxygen
ISO 9001:2015 knowledge/implementation
Use of version control software
Understanding of mark-up and browser-based presentation technologies such as DITA, XML, and HTML
Knowledge of Build Server
Independent, dependable, self-starter
Ability and willingness to travel, if required
