Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the product design system by creating and maintaining a content style guide, leveraged by product designers for UX writing and anyone creating in-app messages.
  • Participate in user testing and content design reviews to evaluate effectiveness and make informed decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to promote consistency and clarity in writing across product experiences.
  • Audit existing copy in products, partnering with product designers on prioritized roadmap work to improve succinctness and clarity.
  • Organize, create, and publish in-app help content.
  • Partner with designers and product teams to write research surveys that display in-app.
  • Review and coordinate content, ensuring it aligns with goals and enhances the user’s experience.
  • Identify education needs and develop a process to instruct others in copy and UX writing.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with partners at all levels of the company.

Salary range for this role is: $65,000-$75,000 depending on experience.

Education:

BA/BS degree in related field or an equivalent combination of applicable education and work experience.

Experience:

  • Combination of technical and writing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects, preferably in technology, and meeting milestones throughout the projects.
  • Experience providing feedback on others’ work in a constructive and productive way.
  • Experience collaborating with a variety of roles such as designers, researchers, support staff, and product managers.
  • Experience with product design and content tools including Figma, Pendo, etc. is a plus.

Competencies – Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Knowledge or training in UX writing and other UX principles.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present ideas and concepts to non-technical internal and external contacts.
  • Service-minded with a passion for helping internal and external customers.
  • Strong listening and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of various technologies, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, content management and delivery systems, etc.
  • Embody the core values of Nelnet.
  • Understanding of the Higher Ed and K-12 markets are a plus.
