About the Role:
Writers are first and foremost thinkers. But make no mistake, words matter. Craft matters. And knowing how to pair a love of words with strategic thinking, curiosity, modern media understanding, and the business savvy that clients require is table stakes today. So Ovative is looking for a sharp, talented writer to join the Creative Lab. In this role, reporting to the Creative Director, you will support and expand the Lab's content creation and copywriting capabilities. One day you’ll work on campaign concepts, another you’ll edit client-supplied post copy for a Paid Social campaign, and yet another you’ll write 3 digital audio spots and help rewrite a creative strategy deck. We're looking for a writer who is capable of penning pithy headlines and lengthy blogs alike, meaning you'll be just as excited about outlining and doing background research as you are about workshopping headers and on-asset copy.
Responsibilities of a Sr. Copywriter, Creative Lab (Sr. Manager Level):
- Work with our strategist, designers, and Creative Director to ideate campaign concepts across a broad range of clients, from apparel brands to healthcare clients.
- Be a great client collaborator and be willing to push them when needed, but understand their dynamics and show up with empathy, leadership, and positive energy.
- Develop ideas and content for blogs, articles, PLPs, digital campaigns, paid social media, etc.
- Develop scripts for short- and long-form video and audio spots.
- Ensure brand consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone).
- Transform complex topics into compelling narratives for multiple audiences.
- Collaborate with designers, marketers, and other professionals on large- and small-scale projects.
- Partner with team members and external agency partners to deliver high-quality work that is on time, on-brief, on-budget, and on-brand.
- Follow and recommend content best practices/trends.
- Support ongoing editorial calendars with copy and concepts that align with brand voice/tone and marketing goals.
- Support ad hoc content requests.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or another related field.
- 8-10 years experience working with advertising agencies, creative studios, or media organizations with an emphasis on researching, ideating, creating, and editing content for brand voices.
- Passionate about developing their craft, executing the creative vision of projects along with other teammates.
- Attention to detail and ability to self-proof work.
- Knowledge of the rapidly changing media ecosystem, including Influencer and Creator, Paid Social, and understanding creative production today.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities at once.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when it comes to explaining your work, justifying storytelling/messaging decisions, and talking through client or internal feedback professionally.
- A head full of ideas and the drive to lead in a high-growth business.
- Applications must include an online portfolio or at least 3 work samples.
Pay Transparency
At Ovative, we offer a transparent view into three core components of your total compensation package: Base Salary, Annual Bonus, and Benefits. The salary range for this position below is inclusive of an annual bonus. Actual offers are made with consideration for relevant experience and anticipated impact. Additional benefits information is provided below.
For our Sr. Manager positions, our compensation ranges from $111,000 to $186,000, which is inclusive of a 25% bonus.
