JOB DESCRIPTION

SHED is looking for a talented and motivated designer/architect who will work closely with principals and teams to design and manage projects from Pre-Design through Contract Administration. General responsibilities include:

  • Feasibility studies, research, and presentation packages

  • Developing and maintaining 3D models at all stages of design

  • Design and production drawings

  • Producing permit and construction drawings

  • Project Management (communication with clients and contractors)

As you become a more seasoned designer at SHED, your responsibilities will broaden to include detailing, spec writing, managing project and consultant budgets, and working on in-house initiatives with other staff to push forward innovation and expertise.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE:

  • A Portfolio that demonstrates strong design ability and dedication to process

  • A Bachelors and/or Master of Architecture degree from an accredited university

  • 1 - 3 years post-grad experience in the field of architecture

  • An understanding of construction assemblies, material properties and construction methods

  • A desire to research when resolving technical issues, and to share knowledge and lessons learned

  • An interest in and knowledge of sustainable building practices.

  • Experience and facility with BIM; ArchiCad a plus

  • Experience and facility with presentation and rendering programs such as SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills

  • Effective communicator verbally, graphically and in writing, who can present design ideas clearly and with confidence
