Determine problems and services by listening to customer's descriptions of symptoms, clarifying description problems, conducting inspections, checking maintenance records, and examining service schedules Discuss repairs and findings with mechanics and document accordingly Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records Obtain authorizations and produce estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor Prepare repair orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle Maintain customer records by recording problems and corrective actions planned Obtain parts for mechanics and assist with maintenance of shop equipment Successful Service Writer Candidates Will Have:
Related work experience as a Service Writer or Lead Mechanic Knowledge of medium/heavy-duty diesel trucks & trailers required Comprehensive understanding of service and repair operations in the truck industry Excellent customer service skills Professional written and verbal communication skills, required Organizational and multi-tasking skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with MS Office Suite products with ability to conduct basic tasks in Excel
