Join our team at SPEAK MPLS, a member-powered media center and home to Minneapolis public access TV channels 16, 17, and 75 on Comcast. We’re reimagining the future of media through community connections and creative opportunities, and we’re hiring a Community Media Manager to lead daily media center operations, oversee studio logistics, and be the go-to resource for members and the public. In this role, you will manage member administration and communication, oversee studio scheduling and equipment logistics, and provide hands-on support to members as they navigate our DIY production studios. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily media center operations including studio and equipment bookings, reminders, and availability to support a welcoming, well-organized studio environment.
- Oversee the membership journey, including registration, onboarding, and orientations, helping members understand policies and make full use of their membership benefits.
- Support members in accessing studios, equipment, and production tools to foster a DIY learning environment, providing technical assistance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Monitor and maintain studio equipment, ensuring functionality and tracking inventory through the asset management system.
Administration, Communication & Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members and the public, managing inquiries via phone, email, and in person, and directing them to the appropriate team member.
- Manage the member portal and CRM software, maintaining accounts, monitoring contracts and payments, and overseeing outreach about news and opportunities.
- Oversee studio and engagement schedules, providing weekly staff updates on operations, member activity, equipment status, and upcoming events.
- Organize and lead monthly member events and support community engagement activities by coordinating logistics, managing event materials, and ensuring team readiness for external events.
- Conduct member surveys and compile quarterly engagement reports.
- Support SPEAK MPLS productions and storytelling projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years of experience in administration, member services, or customer support, with proficiency in Google Suite and CRM systems; experience with Slack or similar team communication platforms is a plus.
- 1-2 years of experience in media production, with hands-on familiarity with studio and DSLR cameras, audio, lighting, and basic editing to assist members as needed.
- Experience with public access TV, community media, or media production is preferred; managing studio or facility operations and logistics is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills, focusing on member support and community engagement, providing technical assistance in a hands-on, DIY production environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt and effectively manage internal coordination, member outreach, and studio operations.
HOURS + COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position at $24/hr. This role is fully in-person, and the ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Full-time employees receive a $200 monthly health care stipend, generous PTO, and a SPEAK MPLS membership, which includes access to all studios, equipment, co-working spaces, and media center resources.
