The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Music History at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an emerging scholar with a strong background in teaching various areas of Music History. The specialty within Music History is open, but we are looking for a candidate whose research interests will complement the methodologies and expertise of the other members of the department. The ability to engage with any number of the interdisciplinary programs at the University, such as Asian Studies, Black Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies, among other possibilities, is preferred. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester, with research and university service required for promotion and tenure. The appointment, pending final budget approval, will have a starting date of September 1, 2024.Requirements:
Candidates will be expected to have completed a terminal degree, but ABD candidates who will have degrees in hand before the position begins on September 1, 2024 will also be considered.
