Currently, we are looking to welcome a Freelance Toy Packaging Designer a skilled and imaginative individual whose strength lies in packaging design and creative development. This opportunity is freelance and will be hybrid, with three days onsite in our client’s Los Angeles, California office. We are currently seeking Los Angeles, California residents for this opportunity only.

About Our Client:

• Collaborates with some of the most recognizable pop culture, gaming, and entertainment brands

Your Expertise:

• You bring 3+ years of experience in packaging design with a strong portfolio showcasing work in toys, consumer goods, or licensed products
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, with an eye for clean, high-impact design
• Able to take projects from concept through production, managing tight timelines and evolving brand guidelines

Your Responsibilities:

• Craft compelling packaging concepts from ideation to final execution, ensuring alignment with brand identity and licensing standards
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product development, and marketing teams to deliver packaging that pops on shelf and online
• Prepare accurate dielines and print-ready files while coordinating with vendors to ensure production feasibility and quality
• Research and stay updated on packaging trends within the toy and retail space to ensure relevance and innovation
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to timelines, brand guidelines, and legal/licensing compliance requirements

Requirements:

• Proven background in packaging design for toys, licensed products, or consumer goods, with a deep understanding of layout, branding, and visual merchandising
• Strong knowledge of packaging structures, materials, dieline creation, and print production processes
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, licensors, and external vendors
• Highly proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, and knowledge of tools such as InDesign and Acrobat
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong visual communication skills with an ability to articulate design rationale and receive feedback constructively
• Understanding of retail packaging requirements, such as shelf impact, sustainability, safety regulations, and age labeling
