Job Summary Benjamin Moore & Co. is currently looking for an ambitious and self-motivated individual to join our sales team.
The territory will cover New York City (primarily Manhattan and Queens) . You will be accountable for engaging architects, designers, and specifying professionals to grow market share and strengthen Benjamin Moore's position of product and color leadership within a defined territory. You will be responsible for managing the project specification and linking the planning stages to successful completion, resulting in paint sales and for providing expertise, education, and brand awareness to the key purchase influencer segments including the Independent Retailer, Architects, Designers, and Color Consultants while adhering to the Benjamin Moore core values. Key Responsibilities Architect, Designer & Professional Specifier Engagement: Serve as a direct representative, resource, and brand ambassador to the architectural community supplying technical information and guidance for commercial, industrial, residential, and government projects. Foster the relationship between architects, specifying professionals, designers, and contractors to capitalize on business growth opportunities. Provide product and regulation information and support including specifications, submittals, and draw downs. Expand the reach of Benjamin Moore’s product and color position among the architectural community in emerging markets through cold calls and delivery of presentations and provide collateral. Serve as an expert for environmental regulations and standards including LEED, Green Promise, and EPA. Communicate industry requirements and recommendations to HQ for integration into planning. Maintain an active role in industry associations and local organizations and awareness of industry advancements/trends. Project Sales Link & Coordination: Provide a defined focus on the link between project planning, product selection, application, and successful job completion. Manage, track, and report client projects and specifications. Provide project leads to the Market Sales team, coordinating follow-up and feedback. Conduct job site visits including recommendations, warranty and inspection work, and complaint resolution. Territory Development: Manage territory to optimize brand awareness and influence purchase. Work collaboratively with Market Sales personnel to drive leads to contractors. Build relationships in a consultative and advisory role. Develop and implement comprehensive Business Plans. Record and track education and lead generation activity. Coordinate industry events, trade shows, and presentations. Education & Training: Create an ongoing training plan for architect and specifying professionals to educate on product knowledge, industry standards and requirements, and the brand value proposition. Ensure that the Benjamin Moore developed CEU strategy is effectively implemented and drives the core objective of brand/product specification and purchase. Maintain competitive intelligence of products, standards, and specifications. Drive the use of all available education tools and resources. Effectively lead professional training activities in the architectural community including associations, firms, events, and trade shows. Required Skills BA/BS degree preferred. Two to five years of experience directly with the architectural and design communities. Thorough understanding of specification and finish schedule writing. Working knowledge of required software programs (Microsoft Office, CRM). Excellent communication, listening, and public speaking skills. Effective training and motivational skills. Effective time management skills. High sales aptitude, self-motivated. Ability to analyze situations and identify opportunities for success. Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills. Effective team interaction skills with high aptitude for collaboration with colleagues. Valid driver's license and a good driving record a must.
