The University of Minnesota seeks a collaborative, innovative, and strategic leader to serve as its Vice President for Communications (VPC). This role offers an exceptional opportunity to join a Big Ten university at a pivotal time in its history. The VPC will report to President Cunningham and will be a key member of her cabinet.The VPC is responsible for:Creating and leading a comprehensive communications, marketing, and branding strategy.Establishing a framework for fostering connections between the University and its constituents.Providing leadership and oversight of the Office of University Relations, including 60 staff members and a $8.5 million budget.Partnering with marketing and communications leads across the university.Engaging in the University's collaborative leadership model.Communicating effectively with constituents at all levels.Responsibilities:Conceive and implement a strategic communications and marketing plan.Serve as senior counselor on communication matters.Provide leadership for crisis management and communications.Advise university leaders on translating and communicating accomplishments.Develop strategies to connect with underrepresented communities.Build and manage a best-in-class communications and marketing program.Utilize data to evaluate communication effectiveness.Establish a cohesive digital ecosystem.Inspire collaboration among communication professionals.Foster excellence in client collaboration and problem-solving.Evaluate current marketing and branding efforts.The University recognizes and values the importance of diversity and inclusion in enriching the employment experience and supporting the academic mission.
