This is a hybrid role, combining in-office presence in Washington, DC, with up to two remote days per week. Responsibilities
Are you ready to contribute to Brookings' success? The Senior Director of Digital Media will collaborate with the Managing Director to lead digital media strategies, oversee visual design and multimedia production, and work closely with other teams. The role aims to enhance Brookings’ digital presence, maintain brand consistency, and produce innovative digital content that communicates the organization’s work and impact to policymakers and decision-makers. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a strong background in digital media, creative services, and team management within the policy sector, capable of driving innovation and excellence across digital platforms. Strategy Development and Cross-Organizational Project Management (30%)
Develop and implement comprehensive digital media strategies to boost online engagement, aligned with Brookings’ mission and goals, leveraging expertise in design, digital media, and policy. Manage design and multimedia projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high quality. Set clear project scopes and realistic timelines, managing stakeholder expectations effectively. Establish and monitor metrics for digital projects, using data to refine strategies. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and alignment on digital initiatives. Content Production (30%)
Innovate visual storytelling techniques to engage audiences and improve digital experience. Produce high-quality visual and multimedia content, including digital and print collateral, videos, animations, and podcasts, adhering to brand guidelines and strategic objectives. Create complex data visualizations and interactive content in collaboration with research and web teams. Work with communications colleagues to identify target audiences and develop visuals that communicate effectively. Brand Stewardship (20%)
Maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms and collateral, including websites, social media, email campaigns, and multimedia content. Develop and update visual guidelines and templates to ensure a cohesive brand presence. Lead workshops and training to educate staff on visual design standards and brand consistency. Team Management and Internal Support Strategies (20%)
Lead and mentor a cross-functional digital media team, fostering collaboration and effective communication. Promote efficiency and accountability through coaching on project management and time management. Support strategic efforts with leadership to ensure innovative and impactful communication internally and externally. Contribute to shaping organizational culture and systems.
