The Camera Operator position is primarily responsible for operating and maintaining all studio cameras: pedestal, jib, and if trained, Steadicam.
Stadium is an interactive sports network enabling fans around the country to engage with professionally-produced content and a first-class talent team. Originating from Chicago's United Center - with a studio in the heart of the facility's atrium steps away from the famed Michael Jordan statue - Stadium operates the industry's original OTT-delivered sports network, creating video content for itself and its partners seeking to bridge the high quality of televised content with the immediacy and interactivity of digital media.
Key Job Responsibilities Include:
- Operate pedestal and jib studio cameras for live daily sports programming both in-studio and on location as needed.
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and application of camera skills such as framing and movement to execute the creative content strategy.
- Collaborate with producers and directors to execute overall programming strategy.
- Willingness and physical ability to train to operate Steadicam.
- Assist with other studio production areas as needed, including microphone and IFB placement, talent cueing, understanding lighting board functionality, and setting/changing lighting cues.
- When trained, temporarily fill in for roles such as GFX Operator, A1, A2, AD, or TD.
- Assist with the general upkeep and operation of related equipment.
- Attend meetings as part of daily programming requirements.
- Maintain professionalism and a positive demeanor when interacting with crew, talent, and guests.
- Contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in live studio production in a fast-paced environment preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Understanding of studio-based productions required.
- Ability to think quickly and communicate effectively required.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks required.
- Some experience with studio lighting preferred.
- Experience with INEWS or similar newsroom rundown systems preferred.
- Knowledge of professional and/or college sports is a plus.
