General Position Summary
The Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students within the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Teacher creates an environment that promotes student growth in intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual areas, with decision-making responsibilities within school policies.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the school's Code of Conduct and policies.
- Plans instruction with clear objectives based on curriculum and school policies.
- Provides materials and resources to facilitate learning.
- Uses effective teaching methods and assessment tools.
- Maintains accurate records and practices positive classroom management.
- Communicates proactively with parents regarding academic and behavioral concerns.
- Participates in staff development and demonstrates professionalism.
- Collaborates with colleagues and responds to individual student needs.
- Maintains a work schedule that supports the school community.
- Performs other assigned tasks and projects.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Works in a typical school environment, may involve physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 pounds, managing stress, and working evenings or weekends as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Meets the minimum teaching field requirements as per Diocese and TCCED.
Knowledge and Skills
- Passion for working with children and understanding of child development.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, and Catholic teachings.
- Effective communication and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency in technology, especially Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
