The Communications Officer is an essential employee responsible for coordinating and monitoring the Campus Safety response to address calls for service and emergency situations. The Communications Officer is the primary person interacting with customers on the telephone and in-person and for documenting relevant details into the Computer Aided Dispatch system. Responsibilities include monitoring a variety of security and fire alarm systems, issuing new and replacement NazCards, issuing controlled keys/ID cards, and processing and issuing parking permits for the entire University. The Communications Officer manages student employees tasked with assisting communication functions and provides general support to the entire Campus Safety Department. This position is a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Clery Act.Essential Functions
Coordinate and monitor Campus Safety response to address calls for service and emergency situations.Perform intake for calls of service and document relevant information in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.Provides continuous administrative support to the Campus Safety department.Monitors all alarm systems including fire, security, CCTV, and the personal Safe@Naz alarm system.Coordinates and dispatches mutual aid emergency response with various outside agencies.Processes and issues parking permits for the entire campus.Answer and provide direction for all questions and/or concerns.Monitors and operates the campus-wide Card Access system.Creates and distributes NazCards for new members of the Nazareth Community.Coordinates the updating of all campus events daily.Responsible for maintaining and issuing Campus fleet vehicle keys and specific room keys.Provide general support to the operations of the Campus Safety Department.Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
High School diploma with two years experience in customer service or equivalent experience.Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
2+ years experience in customer service.Supervisory Responsibilities
May provide oversight for one or more student workers.Physical Requirements
Ability to patrol, walk, lift, drive and stand for extended periods of time.Equipment to be used
