Position Overview
The MCICOM G7 Communications Planner will assist the COMSTRAT branch with the successful execution of the COMSTRAT program, ensuring that MCICOM communicates to inform key stakeholders to maximize operational success. The Communications Planner will integrate COMMSTRAT considerations throughout the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP) through DC I&L and MCICOM commander’s decision cycle via the MCICOM G7 through the Boards, Bureaus, Centers, & Cells structure and conducts communication-specific planning in support of operational end states and institutional goals.
Essential Job Function
- Participate in all steps of MCICOM MCPP.
- Incorporate research findings into COMMSTRAT concepts of support in planning.
- Identify risk and potential impact of proposed courses of action on audience perception.
- Advise on message and action alignment for proposed actions, images, and messages throughout planning.
- Develop COMMSTRAT concepts of support in coordination with MCICOM portfolios.
- Develop COMMSTRAT strategy, campaigns, and plans in coordination with appropriate staff and external agencies as required.
- Develop COMMSTRAT annexes and appendices in support of operations orders.
- Develop Proposed Public Affairs Guidance (PPAG), staff within MCICOM, coordinate with required agencies, and submit to higher headquarters for approval in support of MCICOM plans.
- Lead or support the Commander’s Communication Synchronization working group.
Minimum Qualifications
- Over ten (10) years of specialized experience supporting similar tasks described herein and a Bachelor’s Degree or over five (5) years of experience and a Master’s Degree
- Secret Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as any of the following: Director, Public Affairs, Strategic Communications Planner, Chief Public Relations Officer, Chief Public Information Officer, Brand Manager, Marketing Director
