Job Description
Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and French for middle school. DLS is a unique learning environment because students are learning content in the target language, spending between 50%-90% of their school day immersed in their chosen language.
The selected candidate will begin work at DLS on August 5, 2025 and their pay will begin on August 20, 2025. This is a full-time salaried position, Monday through Friday at our Whiteman Campus.

Pay and Benefits
- Teachers at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The starting range for this position is currently estimated to be $54,111-$63,008 contingent upon experience and qualifications, and is paid monthly August-July.
- 10 days of PTO with an option to roll up to 6 days to the following school year.

Essential Functions and Objectives
- Select music to build a music library for the school and ensure that the selections are varied to ensure the repertoire reflects the school’s value of cultural inclusivity.
- Provide or arrange for regular maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.
- Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement through Positive Behavior Intervention Support and Restorative Practices.
- Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rules of conduct and behavior assigned to students.
- Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines and Colorado Department of Education standards.
- Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
- Prepare, administer, assign and grade balanced assessments to evaluate student progress and report grades using school software.
- Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
- Communicate with caregivers, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; and coordinate instructional efforts.
- The safety of our students is our top priority, therefore all staff members will be expected to hold additional supervision duties, including before or after school or as directed by your supervisor.
- DLS expects all staff to cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, efficient workplace by maintaining a spirit of innovation and adaptability. You are a vital part of the DLS community, and may be asked and expected to attend Professional Development, serve on committees, provide insight, perform research, analyze data, or otherwise contribute to achieving our mission. Assisting with and attending DLS events such as cultural, recruitment or PTO events is also expected.
- Support Operations Team in managing the Gilpin Campus auditorium, including running the sound system
- Complete all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Successful candidate must be highly qualified, meaning they must have:
- a bachelor's degree in Education or Music, Theatre, Performing Arts or related field;
- and a passing score on the Music Praxis Exam
- A minimum 2 years experience in leading choral and/or instrumental ensembles
- Ability to lead after-school performances and activities as part of the role at the school
- Ability to collaborate with a team of educators across content areas
- Official transcripts requested upon hiring- must be translated and evaluated, if education was completed outside the US
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience and passion for building a strong choral and instrumental program, including designing and facilitating performances
- Current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License with endorsement in Music Education
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Music Education or Performance or related field
- Experience in stagecraft and sound systems
