Find out more about this role by reading the information below, then apply to be considered.Reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering, this position will be responsible for leading the design team in the execution of projects, development of design/drafting standards and tools, assist in the development and documentation of department standards, ensure designers are trained and capable of full project responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision design staff
Drive schedule adherence and ensure on time completion of design tasks
Monitor and manage design hours and ensure efficient execution to control costs
Provide overall technical direction for the design process and the team
Create and drive the implementation of standard work processes and procedures for the design group
Liaise with shop personnel to ensure ease of fabrication/assembly of the overall product
Ensure all project teams are properly staffed with design personnel
Development and maintenance of on-going “slow time” projects
Assign design staff to other duties when not fully utilized on projects
Review and recommend training and development for design personnel
Work with HR in the recruiting process for new staff
Complete annual performance reviews for design staff
Continually evaluate and recommend improved software capabilities
Responsible for the Development, Maintenance, and Integrity of:
- PDM Architecture and functionality
- Drawing & Design Standards
- Standard Fabrication Drawings
- Design Workflow Processes
Education, Skills, and Experience
Engineering Design & Drafting Technology (minimum)
7 - 10 years of experience in the design and construction of industry-related projects
2D & 3D CAD Design Software, EPDM, and Auto CAD experience
Thorough knowledge and experience in design software platforms, the integration of designs that contain multiple disciplines, in multiple and remote locations
Deep understanding of design practices including checking processes, quality assurance, and design automation
Supervisory experience with the proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff
Delegate work effectively, quick problem solving and conflict resolution
Strong people and employee relations skills
Organizational and time management skills
Good written and oral communication
