You are a strategic and innovative writer with good judgment but also a storyteller who can craft high-impact communications. You are versatile in identifying, addressing, and engaging various audiences such as the media, science community, corporate sponsors, donors, government agencies, and the public across multiple stakeholder demographics.

How you can help:We hope to find someone who can address the current precaution-oriented conservation narrative and help us tell a new story focused on thoughtfully planned Intended Consequences. Working closely with the Executive Director, staff, and international partners, you will help to articulate the organization’s work and positioning within the conservation field. Your forte is the ability to delve into complex issues with experts and distill this information to a wide variety of audiences through an array of communication formats.
Areas you would manage:Website Development (25%)Update webpages, adjusting navigational elements as needed using WordPressTrack web analytics and utilize the data to optimize site engagementWrite, edit, photo edit, and craft compelling content for the website and blog posts which creatively convey our work and conservation impactPhoto sourcing, especially of wildlife and appropriate biotechnology images, and photo rights managementCollateral Development (35%)Provide leadership on communications strategy and key messaging for the organizationDevelop content for press releases, presentation slide decks, op-eds, internal and external reports, conference materials, event summariesDevelop communications to engage new donors and achieve philanthropic goals.Write and create donor engagement pieces, annual reports, and support with proposal writingMaintain an engaging dialogue with supporters and members of our research community and other supporters through listservs, blog posts, and social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube)Media Relation s
(30%)Develop media calendar and communication strategiesJudiciously evaluate and respond to media inquiries and requestsMaintain media list and cultivate relationships with key pressDevelop internal strategy and processes to track and disseminate media coverageHelp develop scripts for video content, sourcing media, and assisting in interviewsCoordinate approved media interviews with Revive & Restore staff and researchers and provide backup materials to prepare staff for interviewsCommunications & Project Management (10%)Coordination of web launches, press releases, and special events will require excellent project management and internal communications with staff scientists and external partnersQualificationsPreferred bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, life sciences (biological sciences ideal), or related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in communications or public relations - ideally in science or conservation organizations, and an understanding of the news cycle and media environmentExcellent communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal, and group presentation) and demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts to a wide audienceA compelling storytellerDemonstrated experience with project managementA comfortable user/manager of social media and other information technology such as e-marketing tools (Mailchimp, Salesforce), web editing (WordPress), social media platform management using Later, Google Suite applications, photo curation, and Google analytics for maximum SEOAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once and willing to work the occasional weekend and/or evening during important eventsGeneral office and administrative support as needed for being a small, collaborative teamPreferredKnowledge of and experience with content strategy, user interface/user experience best practices and methods, and web accessibility best practicesDemonstrated ability to adapt and be flexible as neededCome help us present to the world the measurable impact genetic rescue can have on protecting and preserving our living species.
