Overview
:
The Director of Music plans, oversees, and delivers the music programs for Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church (ZRMBC) by providing organizational and musical support.
The Director of Music is a spiritual leader whose conveys ZRMBC’s vision, mission, value, and strategic direction of the congregation. The Director of Music conveys through music the pastoral and spiritual dimension of leadership at ZRMBC.
The Director of Music brings about the Holy Spirit and gives rise to the congregation of ZRMBC to worship and exalt the Lord in songs of praise.
This is a part-time position.
General Position Description
:
The Director of Music is responsible for all aspects of the music program at ZRMBC. This includes Sunday morning music service, special music events and other special services. The Director of Music is also responsible for supervision of the music ministry and the music staff.
Accountability
:
The Director of Music is accountable to the pastor, the assigned deacon, and recognizes their responsibility for planning and leading the entire worship service. The Director of Music will work as part of the team to ensure smooth flow to the service.
Specific Responsibilities
:
Develop and prepare plans for weekly music with ZRMBC ministry team and worship and music committee. This may include music and services for Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, Watch Night, and other special programs.
Attend worship committee meetings and weekly planning meetings with ZRMBC staff on a regular basis.
Supervise the Music Ministry staff, including the chief musician, choir directors, praise team leaders, and support staff.
Direct weekly vocal choir rehearsals, bell choir, and pre-performance rehearsals with choirs, musicians, soloist, and groups.
Encourage the congregation to sing with the assistance of the choir.
Ensure a blended musical format that includes a breadth of styles, increases congregational repertoire, focusing on passionate and quality singing.
Possess the ability to sing, play the piano and/or other musical instruments.
Provide music performances, as required, without musical or vocal accompaniment.
Provide music opportunities to children and youth.
Ensures music materials are organized and filed.
Complete paperwork such as licensing requirements as needed.
Prepare and submit an annual budget for approval by the assigned deacon.
Responsible for the oversight of the Music Ministry budget and the purchase of all necessary music and music supplies.
Provide music (as needed) at weddings held within the church.
Report to the assigned deacon the condition and needs for maintenance of church musical instruments and materials.
Set policies regarding the use of the church’s musical instruments and materials.
Education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
:
BA or AS Degree preferred, but not required, with equivalent experience.#J-18808-Ljbffr
