POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director of Communications Marketing is responsible for a broad range of public relations and marketing activities related to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. As an ambassador for HART, the Director of Communications Marketing will be responsible for the public perception of the agency and will serve as the public information officer. Managing this perception involves developing communication strategies, research, understanding the importance of timing and setting, responding to crises and setbacks, overseeing a team of diverse communications roles and ensuring that information released is consistent with the strategy at large. The Director of Communications and Marketing will be responsible for proactively building and managing collaborative and respectful relationships with the media, in addition to advancing the organization's connections with stakeholders and community influencers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the Authority's image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications; and all Authority marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications and media relations.As a forward-thinker, the Director of Communications Marketing will be responsible for identifying challenges and emerging issues affecting the organization and community. The Director or Communications Marketing will drive alignment between the organization's words and actions.Responsible for development of the annual marketing and communications plan to support the goals of the AuthorityCollaborate with senior management to make internal operations and external activities powerful forces for strengthening and extending HART's brand and its initiatives.Manages media relations. develops relationships with local media and ensures all messaging projects a positive company image to the public.Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Authority publications.Serves as executive editor of the organization's website and other digital communications.The Director of Communications and Marketing reports directly to the Chief Administration Officer and works closely with the Executive Leadership Team and cross-departmental staff on a variety of strategic initiatives and special projects.The Director of Communications and Marketing will provide guidance and mentorship to an array of strategists, thinkers, and doers from the areas of advocacy, marketing, advertising, communications, storytelling, public relations, media, the visual arts, and digital development.Works with the CAO and the Leadership Team to achieve organizational goals and objectives by delivering excellent communications and public relations initiatives in support of the marketing and communications plans and larger organizational strategic plan.Manages coordination and development of media interest in the Authority and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate, timely response to media requests.Acts as a representative with the media on behalf of the Authority.Coordinates the appearance of all Authority print and electronic materials, such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, photos, etc.Oversees development and coordination of programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist departments in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.Provide advice and direction to departments on marketing, communications and public relations.Develops short and long-term communication and marketing plans and budgets for the department.Directs and manages the Communications Marketing team. Ensures all published content, including web pages and marketing materials, is correct and up-to-date.If necessary, serve as a member of HART's service disruption and/or emergency response team, including the ability to respond outside of normal business hours.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field with Ten (10) years of experience in marketing, communications, or community relations and Five (5) years of leadership, management, and supervisory experience. Experience in copywriting, website maintenance, graphic design, social media campaigns, and video production.Preferred: Prior experience in a transit and/or public agency. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Machines, Tools and Equipment Used:
Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems, as well as a computer for both data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Florida Driver's License or be able to obtain one within in 10 days of hire or moving to the State of Florida.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategiesSelf-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.Extensive successful writing and editing experience (externally focused) with a variety of print and online communications media.Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization's mission and goals.Command of technology and effective use of social media.Demonstrated experience in strategic creation, execution and analysis of traditional and digital media campaigns.A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives concurrently.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Incumbent may sometimes be located in an outdoor, street, community, or shop environment.Subject to all weather conditions.Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.Frequent periods of computer usage and walking.
