Director Software Engineering - Marketing Services As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful microservices, to back-end Java based systems and Machine learning models using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Spark, Artifactory, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.

The Marketing And Analytical Services (MAAS) team is an integral part of Capital One’s Navigator suite of products ( https://www.capitalone.com/cars/auto-financing/dealer ). Focused on B2B2C and B2B solutions, the team incubates latest marketing product and analytical product ideas that provide a differentiated value proposition to Capital One’s auto dealer partners (Capital One is #1 retail auto finance lender in the US). Established less than two years ago, the MAAS team launched 3 new products in 2024 and is in process of piloting 2 new products in 2025. The auto industry is an incredibly competitive and fast evolving sector as consumer purchase patterns shift, and winning in this sector requires both ingenuity as well as focus on foundational leverage in infrastructure design, in order to build products that can be sustainably successful. MAAS is an autonomous team and this leadership role will provide an up-close view of the P&L, opportunity to drive growth, and influence go-forward strategy. You will: Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers. Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team. Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios. Continuously improve software engineering practices. Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies. Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions. Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community. Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams. Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments. Break existing monolithic applications into micro service architectures and build new microservices. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. At least 7 years’ experience in software development. At least 5 years’ experience in people management. At least 3 years of experience building big data pipelines. At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform). Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years’ of experience in software development. 5+ years’ of experience in Agile practices. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Plano, TX: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering.
