Support the delivery of high-quality communications, publications, and proposals for principal gift fundraising. The position will report to the AVP Advancement Services & Campaign Manager and work closely with the VP for University Advancement, AVP for Development and several key stakeholders across the university, including external engagement staff, advancement and Pirate Blue athletic advancement staff, academic staff and Deans for all three Seton Hall campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and draft compelling fundraising material including proposals, case studies for support, and communications to translate complex academic work into easy-to-understand material for the principal gift cohort. Conduct research and independently incorporate changes, comments and critiques from multiple stakeholders using exceptional writing and editing skills. Coordinate the production of proposals for principal gifts, including interviewing relevant staff and key stakeholders. Working with University Relations staff, s/he will be responsible for incorporating university strategic and brand messaging, conducting research for each writing project, and collaborating across UA to develop a calendar reflecting touch point communications with targeted advancement audiences. Work closely with the Office of the Vice President University Advancement to develop letters, remarks, statements, speeches, and other advancement-related materials on behalf of the president and other senior university leaders. Provide oversight and direction, in association with assigned staff, to communications related to a comprehensive campaign, including campaign case statement, collateral materials, proposals and online presence. Consult and partner with external consultants, other groups in UA and on campus on special communications projects and challenges. Maintain excellent relationships with colleagues across UA and campus in order to obtain the information needed to deliver the highest quality, most strategic work. Provide support, editing, and review for fundraising proposal writing at all levels of the Advancement division. In collaboration with Sr. Director for Administration work to assess current team skill levels in writing proposals and develop training and skill-building resources as needed.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five to eight years demonstrated experience in a fundraising environment, preferably in the not-for-profit or Philanthropy sectors with a focus on writing. Demonstrated success preparing fundraising collateral including comprehensive proposals with a proven track record of writing persuasive, high-quality communications and publications. An understanding of and commitment to Seton Hall's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. Requires the ability to understand the needs and interests of diverse audiences in order to develop relationships between them and the university; interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the university's alumni engagement and fundraising priorities.
Desired Qualifications: Philanthropic campaign work in a college or university setting. Master's degree.
