Function of Position:
The Specialist II assists in the implementation of the College's marketing plan with an emphasis on student recruitment marketing. The Specialist II is the main marketing writer for the College. The position supports strategic communications and writing content for a wide variety of electronic and print communications. The Specialist II reports to the Director, Marketing, Web and Social Media. The Specialist II works closely with the Graphic Designer and departmental staff; enrollment offices, particularly Admissions; and other College departments to support the College's enrollment goals.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
Provides creative conceptualization, marketing, writing, and editing for student recruitment initiatives in support of the College's strategic enrollment plan and marketing plan.
Works as a creative team with the Specialist, Visual/Graphic Design, to develop communications materials including but not limited to collaterals, direct marketing, web content, social media content, digital, electronic, and print advertising, posters, letters, emails, scripts and text.
Supports program marketing through collaterals, web program pages, and digital content, in close collaboration with department staff, curriculum, faculty, and IT.
Works with all levels of faculty and staff and with students and alumni as needed.
Creates, implements and adheres to production plans for projects.
Works as needed with vendors including marketing agencies, photographers, videographers, printers, and others.
Secures estimates and recommends purchases as needed.
Identifies opportunities to advance the College's brand via communications tactics.
Secondary Functions:
Provides writing support for special departmental and College initiatives as needed
Conducts secondary marketing research to inform and support the College's marketing strategy.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing, Web, and Social Media

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Earned bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
At last two years of work experience in marketing communications.
Evidence of excellence in conceptualization, writing and editing skills for print and digital communications.
Evidence of project management experience and ability to meet deadlines.
Evidence of working with vendors such as agencies, printers, photographers, and/or freelancers.
Evidence of ability to work with limited supervision.
Evidence of computer skills applicable to marketing, such as Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned master's degree or higher in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
Experience in higher education.
Some experience with Adobe, PowerPoint, web content management systems, or customer relationship management systems.
3-5 years' experience in communications field.
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $55,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.
