Job Description

Fox News Digital is seeking an experienced Part-Time Freelance Reporter, US, to join our team. You should be a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in a major newsroom, covering U.S. news. You must have a broad network of sources to enable you to break news and pursue original, exclusive reporting.

Responsibilities

1. Original, enterprise, and investigative reporting
2. Responding swiftly to breaking news and producing accurate stories under pressure
3. Traveling to breaking news events at short notice
4. Creating stories with original video, interviews, photos, and graphics
5. Maintaining a strong network of criminal, legal, and police contacts
6. Pitching stories daily and executing field assignments

Requirements

1. 3+ years of professional newsroom experience
2. Experience covering US/WORLD news at a national media outlet, digital experience preferred
3. Experience with crime, courts, legal, and investigations reporting
4. Knowledge of AP style
5. Familiarity with PACER, Lexis-Nexis, FOIA requests
6. SEO knowledge
7. Experience with digital analytics and traffic building
8. Headline writing skills
9. CMS and WordPress proficiency
10. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
11. Competitive spirit and an “on-call” mentality for emergency and breaking news situations
12. Ability to operate in the field and network actively
13. News consumption enthusiast
14. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience

Pay rate/range: $35.00-44.47/hour in high-cost markets; $29.00-37.00/hour elsewhere in the US.
