We are seeking a visionary Head of SEO to join our team and lead our strategic efforts in the evolving landscape of organic search. This role is perfect for someone who is not only an expert in traditional SEO practices but also has a forward-thinking approach to integrating social media, AI search, and large language models (LLMs) into our strategy. If you are a trailblazer who can guide us into the future of search and redefine our approach, we want to hear from you.
About the Role:
As the Head of SEO, you will set the direction for organic search initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals while leveraging AI tools and agents to enhance efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of organic search optimization (OSO), as search engines are just one component of our broader strategy at Babbel. You will lead efforts to optimize Babbel’s visibility across traditional search engines, LLMs like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, as well as social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Reddit.
Reporting directly to the Global Organic Content Director, you will manage a small team of SEO content strategists based at our headquarters in Berlin, Germany. Clear communication and project management across time zones are crucial for success in this role. Together with the team, you’ll work on exciting projects like launching a Spanish learning hub. This free online language learning resource will offer expert content to help new learners get started, while also creating awareness for the award-winning Babbel app.
Your role will involve high-level decision-making and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, ensuring that our SEO strategies not only meet current needs but also anticipate future trends and opportunities.
This position is located in NYC and requires a minimum of 3 days/week in office.
You will:
- Develop and implement a holistic OSO strategy that leverages social media, AI search, LLMs, Reddit, Quora, and more.
- Redefine our keyword strategy to embrace longtail prompts and voice search.
- Lead technical SEO efforts, performing regular audits to resolve issues and improve website architecture across nine global domains.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Amplitude, Sistrix, and Tableau.
- Communicate insights and analytics clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical partners.
- Lead and mentor a team of SEO content strategists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SEO and organic search with broader business objectives.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure our strategies are at the forefront of the SEO and organic search landscape.
You have:
- Extensive experience in a senior SEO leadership role, with a proven track record of strategic impact.
- Deep understanding of social search, AI, LLMs, and their application in SEO.
- Experience deploying Generative AI solutions with measurable business impact, preferably using Google Gemini or OpenAI models.
- Keen analytical skills and proficiency in tools and platforms like Google Analytics, GSC, Sistrix, Amplitude, Screaming Frog, Wordpress, SEMRush, ChatGPT, Python, and Tableau.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- A visionary mindset with the ability to anticipate and adapt to industry changes.
