Job Title and Location Media Relations Manager at NRECA, Arlington, VA (Hybrid position) Company Overview NRECA is a unique national trade association providing advocacy, financial services, and business support to over 900 consumer-owned electric cooperatives across the country. Position Summary We seek a candidate to enhance NRECA’s earned media presence, elevate its standing as an energy thought leader, and lead strategic communications campaigns focusing on electric cooperative advocacy. The role involves media training for co-op leaders, coaching, proactive and reactive media engagement, and representing NRECA to communication leaders. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute media relations strategies supporting NRECA’s communication goals. Lead strategic campaigns to increase the association's profile. Build relationships with national and regional media outlets. Write and develop press releases, pitches, statements, advisories, op-eds, and website content. Coordinate with experts to promote NRECA’s policies and research. Train and coach electric co-op leaders in media relations. Represent NRECA as an ambassador and support leaders in media interactions and crisis situations. Collaborate effectively with team members to identify opportunities and achieve goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or media relations, with experience writing for non-technical audiences. Preferred: 2+ years working on Capitol Hill. Willingness to travel several times a year for events. Physical Requirements Close visual acuity for data analysis, reading, and computer work.
