Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Firm Intellectual Property (IP) Research Librarian is responsible for providing reference and research services to lawyers, paralegals, and support staff. The IP Research Librarian works independently in performing research and related projects and is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work product, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. The IP Research Librarian performs in-depth and complex intellectual property reference and research duties, including responding to user requests for information from internal and external resources, onsite and offsite materials, and print and non-print media on legal, business, and intellectual property topics. Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree or STEM degree with concentration on bioscience. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience required including but not limited to gene sequencing, prior art searching, freedom to operate searching, complex search strategies, and determination of patent family relations and legal status. Working knowledge with databases such as PatDocs, PatBase, Dialog ProQuest and Clarivate, STN and Derwent Innovation. Jones Day offers competitive salaries and benefits to all employees. Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors.
