Lead Millwork Designer
Location: Orlando, FL
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Millwork Designer to join our team in Orlando, FL . This role is responsible for creating technical drawings, shop drawings, and production plans for custom millwork projects. The Millwork Engineer will collaborate with designers, project managers, and production teams to ensure precision, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed millwork shop drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, Microvellum, or similar).
- Interpret architectural blueprints, specifications, and design intent to create accurate production-ready drawings.
- Work closely with project managers, designers, and production teams to ensure drawings meet client requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
- Select appropriate materials, hardware, and construction methods for millwork fabrication.
- Provide technical guidance and solutions to optimize design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Conduct quality control checks on drawings to minimize errors and production issues.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and hardware as needed.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during fabrication and installation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and project records.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in millwork engineering, drafting, or manufacturing.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar drafting software.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of woodworking, joinery, hardware, and millwork fabrication techniques.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot design challenges and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong precision and analytical skills to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CNC programming for millwork applications.
- Knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements related to millwork.
- Familiarity with estimating software and material takeoffs.
