LBCC is committed to the principles of Oregon Pay Equity. Faculty starting salaries are placed on a range determined by the Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement, and dependent on experience. Progression on the salary schedule is subject to the terms and conditions laid out in the Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Click here to view the current agreement.
The 2024-25 starting salary range for this position is $65,414 – $75,065 for a 168-day schedule. The 2025-26 salary schedule and academic calendar has yet to be determined. All faculty new to the college will receive an additional 3 days to attend Fall Term Instructional Strategies Institute training.
If you are the successful candidate for the Faculty Librarian position, you will be given the opportunity to present a “Curriculum Vitae” or “Long-Form” resume. Details from this resume will be used to perform a salary regression analysis. Based on the direct and/or indirect experience provided, the salary regression analysis will be calculated to place you in relation to others at the college with a similar level of experience and responsibility.
It is vital that on the long-form resume you include dates for each position held in a “MM/YYYY – MM/YYYY” format, and include whether positions were at a full-time or part-time appointment. If the position was a part-time appointment, please indicate the number of hours worked on average each week.

Job Summary:
This position blends faculty-level responsibilities in reference and instruction with hands-on technical services and systems administration. Reporting directly to the Director of Library and Learning Center, the Faculty Librarian collaborates across campus to align library services with institutional goals.
Summarized Duties:
- Lead the design and delivery of innovative information literacy programs that integrate seamlessly into the curriculum.
- Provide personalized and group instruction, develop both print and digital resources, and continuously evaluate instructional strategies for effectiveness.
- Oversee the administration and enhancement of the ILS and electronic resources, ensuring integration with enterprise systems.
- Oversee the work of technical services, developing policies and procedures in concert with library staff.
- Partner with internal and external IT teams to maintain system integrity, execute software upgrades, and generate performance reports.
- Design, create, and update library web pages.
- Support the Library Director in assessment activities and future planning.
- Actively participate in the development of policy and procedures with the entire library staff, and proactively connect the library with campus activities and endeavors.
Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science, from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years working in a library.
- Interest/skills in technical services, administering electronic resources, and knowledge of standards and best practices in cataloging.
- Experience with teaching or training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled in computing, productivity and collaboration tools.
- Skills in providing reference assistance to library users, and library instruction classes, and collaborating with teaching faculty to integrate information competencies into courses.
- Ability to create and maintain online guides and reference-related library web pages.
- Skills in maintaining the library collection of print and electronic resources.
- Ability to work in a team environment to meet departmental goals and actively participate in the development of policy and procedures with entire library staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English with a wide range of contacts.
- Possess a user-centered philosophy.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and to manage multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Must be able to work respectfully and effectively with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
- Collaboration and leadership capabilities to serve as the sole faculty representative of the library on campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Library Systems
- Experience administering ILS software, preferably in a consortial environment.
- Experience in administering library subscription databases, including a discovery layer.
- Experience creating original catalog records.
- Experience using APIs in library systems.
- Experience using a content management system to create web pages.
- Experience using OCLC Connexion client.
- Experience configuring and administering ILS acquisitions and serials modules.
- Experience working with open-source software communities.
Programming and other technical skills
- Skilled in Perl, Ruby or other scripting languages.
- Skilled in Structured Query Language.
- Skilled in Unix/Linux.
- Comfortable in command line or console environments.
- Experience creating statistical reports.
Communication, Collaboration, and Professionalism
- Demonstrated success as an academic librarian either solo or on a small staff.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
