Job Description:
Coordinates the activities of the circulation department to ensure that students, faculty, and staff receive exemplary service in finding and using library resources. Provides technical support as it relates to library catalogs, databases, and indexes, and provides library services to students, faculty, and staff.
E ssential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensures library customers are helped promptly and courteouslyPromotes a courteous environment, informed access, and independent learningOversee circulation desk, including the check-out of library materials, re-shelving materials, and answering questions about policies and proceduresManage the library circulation software, including loan rules, due dates, closed dates, patron files, overdue and billed notices, etc.Maintain appropriate documentation of circulation policies and proceduresResolve issues with patrons, including overdue and lost materialsOversee MOBIUS shipmentsAssist with inter-library loanConduct inventory of print collection on a regular basisMonitor and troubleshoot library computers, printers, and scannersCollect and maintain records of circulation statisticsPurchase supplies and equipment for the library, with approval from the Library DirectorPerform other duties as assigned, including filling in to cover other staff duties during absencesRepresent the department and the university favorably per established Core Values and expectationsPerform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the organizationOther administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation)Participate in developing department goals and objectivesActively participate in library team and university meeting
Qualifications:Associate's degree required.One year library experience working in an automated library customer service environment preferredStrong working knowledge of managing and navigating databasesKnowledge of various computer applications, such as Digital Commons, FOLIO, OCLC, etcMust have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and a self-starterExercise good judgment and discretion at all timesAbility to be flexible, and able to shift priorities as demands changeExcellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organizationExcellent verbal & written communication skillsHigh level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
