About The Role
As an SEO Strategist at Pepperland Marketing, you will be the primary client-facing advisor for organic search strategy, focused on education-sector clients. You will translate enrollment and brand awareness goals into actionable, data-driven SEO plans, leveraging your technical expertise and content marketing insight. The role demands a hands-on approach to technical SEO audits, code-level fixes, and collaboration with content teams to enhance search performance and user experience. You will lead site migrations, conduct AI-driven analyses, and stay ahead of emerging trends in AI-powered search to keep our clients competitive. This role is primarily remote but requires Connecticut residency and flexibility for in-office collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits using tools like Screaming Frog and Sitebulb; identify and resolve indexation, performance, and accessibility issues with code-level fixes.
- Continuously monitor SEO performance via GA4, Google Search Console, and rank-tracking platforms; develop prioritized action plans based on data insights.
- Collaborate with Content Marketing Strategists to optimize topic clusters, internal linking, and entity-based strategies for stronger topical authority and user experience.
- Lead large-scale site audits, CMS migrations, and redirect mapping to minimize traffic loss and strengthen technical foundations.
- Develop or modify website templates, components, and structured-data snippets within HubSpot CMS, WordPress, or static frameworks.
- Pioneer AI-driven SEO innovations, including keyword clustering, log-file analysis, and internal linking automation; document methodologies in repeatable playbooks.
- Optimize content for AI-powered search experiences such as Google AI Mode, Bing Copilot, and ChatGPT to maximize brand visibility.
- Manage client communications including weekly performance calls, progress presentations, and training sessions on SEO best practices.
- Document and enforce SEO standards, SOPs, and QA processes while delegating execution to specialists.
- Support business development by participating in sales calls and contributing to proposal writing.
- Share thought leadership through blogs, webinars, podcasts, and industry conferences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, digital advertising, CRM, design, and development teams to integrate SEO efforts.
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience in technical and content SEO, ideally with education sector clients.
- Proficient in front-end web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with Git/GitHub workflows; HubL familiarity a plus.
- Deep expertise with enterprise SEO and analytics tools such as GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Looker Studio, and BigQuery.
- Experience creating repeatable SEO frameworks, playbooks, or productized services.
- Strong client management skills with the ability to advise senior stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Experience with HubSpot CMS, Content Hub, and Marketing Hub strongly preferred.
- Must be a Connecticut resident, with willingness to work onsite 1-2 days per week.
