Job Summary
The Associate Graphics & Motion Designer is an intermediate-level position that leads and contributes to the graphic design work related to online course design and development. Independently or under the supervision of a Graphics & Motion Designer, partners with Gies faculty, Learning Designers, and Digital Media Producers to produce instructional video content for Gies College of Business\'s online educational portfolio. The Digital Media Team is responsible for translating faculty expertise and course learning objectives into high quality media content for asynchronous delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring our video content is rich in engaging and informative visuals which adhere to Gies\' accessibility, design, and branding standards. This involves working closely with faculty members to assist in the storyboarding and formatting of their content, producing custom still and motion graphics, suggesting where additional graphic design work could enhance content, and coordinating with a Digital Media Producer to understand proper implementation of all visual elements. Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional Media Design
Coordinate with Digital Media Producers and Learning Designers to create compelling graphical materials including still, charts/graphs, animations, and motion graphics that bring complex business concept to life. Maintain a large volume of media files and project tracking documents.Collaborate with faculty on storyboards, PowerPoint slides, Edit Decision Lists (multi-column scripts), and planning documents to facilitate effective integration of online learning contentOffer graphical-driven creative design suggestions that are part of the collaborative development of the course\'s curriculum plan and syllabi
Instructional Media Development
Serve as lead Graphic & Motion Designer or co-graphic designer on standard Teaching & Learning developments, including new course development, course redesign, and curation of existing content.Provide faculty with consultation and support around faculty-generated content such as PowerPoints, charts/graphs, and still images.
Training
Onboard and train new hourly Digital Media staffAssist and provide feedback on the development and maintenance of internal and external process documentation related to graphic designAssist and provide feedback on the faculty-facing documentation related to the graphic design development processes and working with the Teaching & Learning Graphic & Motion Design sub-unit.
Communication
Follow course production schedules and deadlines set by development sub-unit and/or other members of leadership. Provide regular progress updates to direct supervisor; alert direct supervisor, Project Manager, and relevant sub-unit members of any anticipated or realized delays in production

Minimum Qualifications
Master\'s degree in education, educational psychology, or the humanities such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications, or philosophy
AND
Six (6) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching
OR
Baccalaureate degree in educat on, educational psychology, or the humanities
AND
Eighteen (18) months of experience which included any of the following areas professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, curriculum development, or classroom teaching
Preferred Qualifications
Master\'s degree from an accredited institution in graphic design or related field.
2 years actively working in graphic design; Experience creating graphics specifically for video content
Experience developing instructional media; Experience working within strict branding standards; Experience creating graphics for web and print, including logo design, infographics, brochures, and large-scale print; Experience organizing, properly storing, and adhering to naming and folder hierarchy standards
Training, Licenses or Certifications:
Preferred: Adobe Certified Professional in any of the following:
o Visual Effects & Motion Graphics Using Adobe After Effects
o Graphic Design & Illustration Using Adobe Illustrator
o Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in digital graphic design tools and software, including Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) and Microsoft PowerP
