General Job Duties
Prepare, write, and deliver scheduled newscasts for on-air and online.Prepare and gather information for news stories on a variety of issues relevant to the Kenai Peninsula, as assigned by the News Director. Primary topics include oil & gas, local & state government, education, healthcare, and business.Conduct interviews and produce news stories for daily newscasts.Prepare, write, and edit news content, including images and audio files for use on radiokenai.com and social media.Substitute for News Director as needed.Produce announcements as needed.Attend staff meetings, local events, and station events.Conduct live emergency broadcasts as needed, i.e., severe weather, wildfires, road closures, aviation accidents, etc.Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must be willing to relocate to Kenai / Soldotna, Alaska.Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism/Communications/Broadcast Journalism preferred.Radio and/or other relevant news experience.Excellent announcing and production skills with attention to detail.Proficient with Microsoft Suite, Adobe Audition, WordPress, and social media sites.Familiarity with radio automation operations, particularly Profit NexGen Digital Broadcast.Interpersonal communication and team skills.Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including early mornings and/or evenings; may include holidays and weekends.Able to multi-task and work in a high-pressure fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Supervision: This position reports directly to the News Director and works closely with the Program Director.Classification: Regular full timeSalary Range: DOE
