Description
The Amazon Public Relations team is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and savvy communications professional for the role of Public Relations Manager, Small Business Empowerment. The person who fills this role will be responsible for proactive communications activities and storytelling around the many ways Amazon empowers and supports the success of small businesses. This role will work with numerous stakeholders within the Selling Partner Services business to provide communications counsel on business decisions and activities, mine for new story angles and small business feature opportunities, identify insights to support broader seller-focused narratives, and drive communications for key business announcements, shopping events, and moments. This person will also work closely with a variety of Amazon's independent selling partners, entrepreneurs, founders, and artisans to create impactful narratives around how they are growing their businesses in partnership with Amazon.
This role can be located in Seattle, WA or the Washington, D.C. area.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can clearly formulate and communicate comms recommendations and plans to both peers and executives, drive collaborative decisions, build relationships internally and externally, and deliver results. He/she will also be comfortable collaborating with many stakeholders and internal teams from a number of disciplines to develop comprehensive comms campaigns. Additionally, this role will consistently work with a range of media contacts across local and national, ecommerce trade, consumer, and business publications, and must have strong media relations experience.
The ideal candidate will have strong consumer and/or corporate PR experience, a track record of successfully managing proactive announcements with coverage results, and media relations expertise in pitching proactive stories on a national and local scale, while managing issues and reactive storylines. The candidate will be passionate about supporting our selling partner community, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, and highlighting Amazon’s support for this community through creative communications campaigns.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead comms strategy related to the many ways Amazon supports small businesses as part of its selling partner community
• Develop and execute proactive comms recommendations, announcements, launches, and narratives
• Provide counsel to executives and business teams on comms approaches and messaging
• Work cross-functionally to create feature opportunities for small business owners in Amazon’s store
• Develop and manage relationships with a range of top-tier media contacts
• Write and evolve storylines and talking points in a thoughtful and strategic way
• Build, guide, and execute comms plans, including communicating plans internally and securing leadership approvals
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively
• Proactively seek out opportunities to create news moments, and pull together strategic recommendations
• Help manage a third-party agency to support PR activities
• Willingness to represent Amazon as a spokesperson
Basic Qualifications

7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

Bachelor's degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
