POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM LEADER MUSIC SPECIALIST
PERFORMANCE PROFILE: Youth Development Professional
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
HOURS/CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time / Hourly/ Up to 25 Hrs. per Week / Non-Exempt
PAY RATE: $30.00/Hr
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Program Leader Music Specialist is responsible for implementation and supervision of youth grades TK-8th at our school sites along with creating a safe and orderly learning environment with music in the after-school program. Position develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, specifically drums, guitar, or vocals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare Students for Success
- Work collaboratively to oversee the management of the music program.
- Ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of students.
Program Implementation
- Creating lesson plans for music to create an engaging and educational environment for students.
- Develop and plan culminating events.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff members.
- Verify that programs/activities respond to member needs.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive learning environment.
Supervision
- Supervise students at all times, utilizing the active supervision model. Students should remain in line of sight.
- Monitor and address behavioral issues using appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Stay engaged with students during programming.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained.
- Build, maintain, cultivate relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., guardians, parents, teachers, school administration) –which includes, but is not limited to, calling/corresponding with/meeting with the aforementioned stakeholders.
- May attend culminating events to support with performances/project displays.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma Required.
- AA Degree or 48 college credits from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous experience in early childhood education or childhood development is preferred but not required.
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Strong background with drums, guitar, or vocals.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS

- Bilingual – Spanish Preferred but not required.
- A one school year commitment or longer to the program.
- Available to work weekends if necessary.
- Able to lift more than 20 lbs.
- Clearance of Live Scan Fingerprinting, Background Check, & Drug Test prior to hire.
- Current TB test.
- Clean driving record.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Sexual Harassment & Mandated Reporter training (provided after hire).
