POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM LEADER MUSIC SPECIALIST

PERFORMANCE PROFILE: Youth Development Professional

REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator

HOURS/CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time / Hourly/ Up to 25 Hrs. per Week / Non-Exempt

PAY RATE: $30.00/Hr

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Program Leader Music Specialist is responsible for implementation and supervision of youth grades TK-8th at our school sites along with creating a safe and orderly learning environment with music in the after-school program. Position develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, specifically drums, guitar, or vocals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare Students for Success

1. Work collaboratively to oversee the management of the music program.
2. Ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of students.

Program Implementation

1. Creating lesson plans for music to create an engaging and educational environment for students.
2. Develop and plan culminating events.
3. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff members.
4. Verify that programs/activities respond to member needs.
5. Utilize effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive learning environment.

Supervision

1. Supervise students at all times, utilizing the active supervision model. Students should remain in line of sight.
2. Monitor and address behavioral issues using appropriate behavior management strategies.
3. Stay engaged with students during programming.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained.
2. Build, maintain, cultivate relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., guardians, parents, teachers, school administration) –which includes, but is not limited to, calling/corresponding with/meeting with the aforementioned stakeholders.
3. May attend culminating events to support with performances/project displays.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma Required.
2. AA Degree or 48 college credits from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Previous experience in early childhood education or childhood development is preferred but not required.
5. Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
6. Strong background with drums, guitar, or vocals.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS

5. Bilingual – Spanish Preferred but not required.
6. A one school year commitment or longer to the program.
7. Available to work weekends if necessary.
8. Able to lift more than 20 lbs.
9. Clearance of Live Scan Fingerprinting, Background Check, & Drug Test prior to hire.
10. Current TB test.
11. Clean driving record.
12. Valid Driver’s License.
13. CPR and First Aid certification.
14. Sexual Harassment & Mandated Reporter training (provided after hire).

• Morning & Afternoon shifts
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
