Torrance, CA, 23215 Early Avenue, Torrance, California, United States of America Req #916 The CAD Designer is responsible for designing and detailing plastic injection molded, machined, and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies. Works on Industry and Pelican Products standards to create accurate, manufacturable designs and supporting documentation. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Creates SolidWorks assemblies, parts and drawings from 2D prints and sketches provided by engineering. Be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECO documentation. Perform first article inspection of new components and test products to verify design under supervision of engineers. Checks all drawings and documentation for accuracy against engineering requirements. Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement. Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job. Ability to perform computations or analyses using basic statistical, financial, or logical concepts, or complex mathematical concepts. Performs additional duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Associates degree or 5 years related experience. Two or more years solid modeling experience in SolidWorks. Familiar with ASME-Y14.5M-1994 drawing standards. Solid understanding of good injection molded part design. Experienced in part inspection and use of measuring tools. Experience measuring parts in order to create accurate solid models is desired. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PDM Works experience is a plus. Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime in the evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
